OUR STORY

KLEMAN originates from the story of René Cléon and the family manufacture Cléon.

Marked by the hardships of his time, René Cléon, a shoemaker by trade, returned to France with a simple yet powerful desire: to rebuild, to undertake, and to pass on.

After the war, he gathered an initial team of apprentices and acquired his first stitching and assembly machines. In the family home in La Romagne, the first models were created, specializing in Kneipp stitching.

Driven by the demand for well-made work, the activity developed rapidly. The workshop grew, became structured, and then a factory was built to support the company's expansion.

Over the decades, this French expertise has been refined, modernized, and passed down from generation to generation.

Today, KLEMAN perpetuates this heritage through shoes designed to last, combining functionality, character, and modernity.

RECOGNIZED EXPERTISE

In 1988, the KLEMAN brand (a contraction of Cléon Manufacture) was officially launched. Cléon then became a supplier to several French public administrations that trusted its expertise. The company won increasingly important tenders; first to shoe the National Railway Company, then Air France, followed by customs, some fire departments, and the French army.

Initially reserved for trades requiring safety, robustness, and quality, most of our iconic models comply with the ISO EN-20347 standard, offering an additional guarantee thanks to their anti-slip properties, abrasion resistance, and material harmlessness. The manufacturing of our products remains exclusively carried out in France in our workshop in Anjou.

KLEMAN shoes have outlived fashion trends by offering a raw and authentic unisex style. Our models appeal to men and women seeking efficiency in a pure and uncompromising style. Our leather derby the PADROR (formerly PADRE) and other boot or derby references have remained unchanged since the 1980s. A sober and functional worker's shoe that now dresses a new generation of talented urban dwellers across the globe.
